What You Need To Know About Automated Sales Funnels and How They Can Help Your Business
I've learned SO MUCH in the past 18 months about growing an online business. My primary focus has been on implementing next level sales funnels and marketing strategies.
I learned more in the past 18 months than I did in all 4.5 years I spent in college, and the previous 5 years I spend as a serial entrepreneur combined.
Boy, did I make a lot of mistakes.
But I had some HUGE wins, too!

Let me explain...
What is hard is: losing clients, not being able to pay your bills, spinning your wheels for years on end, racking up credit card debt without a chance to pay yourself. I have been there.
What is not THAT hard: committing to taking on the CEO role in your business, following proven strategies, setting up systems, staying faithful in the things that matter.
It takes a certain person to not flake out, but those are the people who make it in the end.
Maybe that's a bit brash, but I believe today's online millennial entrepreneur needs to hear it.
There are no magic wands or get-rick-quick schemes that will work for anyone.
(And who ever is marketing that crap needs to knock it off ASAP!)
Your business is like a house, and how you build your foundation determines if it will withstand the long haul.
That's why I love sales funnels and why I teach my clients concrete strategies.
Sales funnels will revolutionize the way you do business. That is, if you approach it with strategy and follow a proven model.
No need to re-invent the wheel here, hallelujah!
But first things first, if you're not even sure what a sales funnel is or why you need them in your business, here's what you need to know...
What Is A Sales Funnel, Really?
A sales funnel is, in simplified terms, a series of pages and automated emails that nurture and give value to the subscriber, automatically.
When done right, a sales funnel will lead to automatic sales.
Meaning, they will allow you to stop doing the manual work in your business which leads you to exchanging dollars for hours.
*cue confetti toss!*
A sales funnel begins with you, the marketer and business owner, providing free, high-value training or content to your ideal client in exchange for their name and email address.
After that exchange happens, the subscriber enters a nurture sequence through automated e-mails that build rapport, overcome objections, answer questions and lead that subscriber to becoming a buyer.
Sounds easy enough, right? Well... let's not get ahead of ourselves.
There are so many variations of what that "training" could be and also an unending variety of options when it comes to creating the e-mail sequence. We'll cover that in a moment.
Before we talk about that, let's break down why sales funnels are so valuable in the first place...
Why Do I Need A Sales Funnel..?
Think about the dynamics of a networking party.
You enter the room (God bless us, extroverted introverts, these kinds of functions are exhausting) and you see a whole mix of people chatting while they hold their clear cups of party punch.
There are very likely a few people in the crowd who could benefit from your services...
But how do you figure out who those people are?
How do you strike up the conversation appropriately?
What if you miss out on valuable connections?
Now, I believe that fate has a way of bringing people together, but let's be practical here... you have a limited amount of time, and as far as I know, only one mouth and one body to move about the crowd shaking hands and making short introductions.
It's literally impossible to meet everyone and give them all the same valuable conversation.
Sales funnels are the online solution to the "network party problem".
They allow you to connect with an unlimited amount of people, give them the same high value and experience, and offer them your product or service without it feeling like you're asking for a marriage proposal before the first date.
I see Facebook Groups having a similar conundrum.
There are countless Facebook groups filled with thousands of entrepreneurs, creatives, coaches, and consultants.
But how do you stand out there?
Who really has time to be in every group, posting countless times each day?
Sorry, but that don't pay the bills and if you can't scale it.. do you really want to be doing it day in and day out?

So at the end of the day, you need a sales funnel if...

What Makes A Sales Funnel Successful?
When we create sales funnels, we work backwards, so we always start there before we even start talking numbers or sales.
This means we look at what we're actually selling and then we'll determine what funnel would actually work for that price point and program. This is crucial.
It doesn't make sense to sell a $27 program on a webinar and it would hardly convert if we presented a $10,000 program in an e-book.
You have to make sure that the program and price point is preceded with the appropriate value and length in nurturing.
Think about it, you don't want to ask a stranger off the internet street to pay up $5,000 if they don't know a thing about you.
Here are a few keys to making sure your sales funnel converts:
- Choose the right funnel strategy for your offer
- Give free, high-value training or content to wow your subscribers
- Present your free content in a way that shifts their paradigm vs. overloading them with 27 pages of overwhelming information they won't know how to implement
- Use as many emails as needed to nurture the subscriber before a hard pitch (7-9 touch points is baseline for almost any funnel)
- Address top 3 objections in your e-mail sequence
- Offer a Discovery Call or Sales Call when appropriate
- Use an application form for high price point programs
- Use tagging and list segmentation to optimize sales
- Drive paid and organic traffic into the funnel
How To Create Your First Successful Sales Funnel
Two key things whether your sales funnel will be successful or not:

Almost every online coach or online entrepreneur can succeed with my personal favorite, the webinar funnel.
If you're looking to make serious money online, then I highly recommend webinars.
But webinars are becoming a dime a dozen, so knowing how to promote and present your webinar is everything when it comes to getting sales.
The Right Strategy
When we create a new webinar we start by defining what the ONE BIG THING is that we want our ideal clients and viewers to learn and take away from our presentation.
Science has proven that the brain can only learn so much at a time, so the traditional webinar just doesn't work if you want to gain customers who you can actually help inside your program.
Traditional webinars are long and overwhelming...
They give too much content that it confuses the viewer into feeling paralyzed with fear.
Then many marketers will prey on that fear and pitch their product as the only hope for their dismal situation.
We do not operate this way at all :)
We like to empower our viewers into seeing how possible it is for them to have what it is that they want... so that's how we present our training.
Let me tell ya, it feels muuuuuch better that way!
So after we decide on the ONE BIG THING, we create an enticing, exciting title followed by three bulletpoints of what they will learn on the free training.
These bulletpoints support the ONE BIG THING and help break belief patterns that have been keeping our prospects stuck in their current situation.
I have found that if you can do just one thing for someone who comes to your webinar training it ought to be this:
Instead of overwhelming your viewers with information that they could have googled on their own, why not help them have a powerful paradigm shift instead?
Yes, absolutely teach! Give insane, life-giving value!
But if you succeed at one thing, it should be in breaking their old belief patterns and re-building them so they can see the new reality that is possible for them and also be encouraged to take quick action.
"I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
Besides, the best way to REALLY help someone is by getting them to take action. Action is everything.
After you deliver the presentation, you'll want to send out a replay and then enter your subscribers into a nurture sequence encouraging them to purchase or book a call with you.

3. Track clicks, conversions and track other important data
4. Segment your list so you can see who is actually engaging with your content vs. who isn't
5. Set up certain "buckets" in your funnel with specific e-mails going to specific people
