UE Ep. 6: Find The Money with Danny J

UE Ep. 6: Find The Money with Danny J

Let's be honest... we've all internet stalked people before, right?

I was recently internet-stalking Danny J and I was so obsessed with how she openly talked about her money story and how she overcame debt, losing her home, bankruptcy, and just about every other financial woe you can imagine.

I love a good story, and Danny's is incredibly inspiring.

Not because she's some big guru on a mountain, untouchable and out of reach.

Because she's real, honest, and so kind-hearted.

Of course, I knew I had to bring her on the show.

If I'm honest, I was a little selfish in bringing her on because I wanted to hear her story and meet her IRL.

But I also knew her story and her advice would help literally anyone who is struggling financially.

If you're struggling financially and you're not sure how you'll make it out on the other side, check out this interview with Danny J. She's got some golden nuggets in here that will help you find money, even if you have no obvious business opportunities, rich parents, or an inheritance waiting for you to claim.

More About Danny J

Q: Tell us how you started your business & what your business is all about?
A: I actually started as a personal trainer and fitness model and competitor. Back in the "myspace days" I began to develop a following because I was sharing workout tips, nutrition and motivation.

I hired an online coach and I decided that I could also do that, so, I started to "train" people online at the same time as my 1:1 clients. In 2013, I began to have other trainers emailing me and asking how I was doing the online stuff, so I co-created a course with my friend called Social Academy and I also began to TEACH online marketing strategies using social media.

At the end of 2013 I felt a shift in my brand and my message and I kind of felt that I had a "business identity crisis" of sorts, I put a lot on autopilot, I pulled ALL of my programs and made money solely on affiliate income and network marketing, while I tried to figure my shit out.

Also was in the middle of my own financial BS and my husband and I had some major shifts... as periscope came along and I started to share our journey, my path became more clear and I decided that I wanted to talk about MORE than fitness, so I basically dumped my Sweaty Betties brand and started to work on DannyJ.com

Q: List some accomplishments you're super proud of:
A: Paying off $18k of debt in 68 days
Making 6 figures the YEAR after we only made $19k!
Hitting my goal of going to 30 countries by the time I was 30
Meeting my daughter for the first time in 18 years after placing her for adoption when I was 16

Q: What fuels you in your business?:
A: The emails I get from people who have massively changed their lives and their families lives simply by taking action on something they heard from me.
While I don't believe that I change anyone else's lives, I feel blessed to have influence and that anyone would listen to anything I say! LOL
I feel fortunate that my story and my struggles can help someone else.

Q: What's your motto in business and/or life?:
A: You don't always get to control what happens to you, but you do get to control how you react

Q: What's your "zone of genius"? AKA what are you really good at? Brag a little, it's cool.
A: I've thought about this a lot since reading The Big Leap, and at first I had no idea!
However, I think my Zone of Genius is my ability to relate to people, I feel like I can meet nearly ANYONE and become friends with them and connect with them.
I know this is true because when I was dating, nearly every guy would felt like we had a "connection" while, I was just like "This is just me... but we DEF didn't have a connection LOL"
I am also great at taking complex concepts and making them more simple, this was one reason I was a great gymnastics coach and why I think people enjoy my style.

Q: In a paragraph, share a quick story of a specific time or breaking point where you "unleashed" and unapologetically owned YOUR sh*t (your desires, beliefs, values, etc.):
A: December 2012, I was crying because I had just moved, just broken up with my business partner, wasn't really making any money, was massively in debt and had NO IDEA what to do.
That is when I spoke with Sean Croxton and found Dani Johnson.
I was DETERMINED to figure SOMETHING out because I was so tired of the struggle and I was about to give up and "go get a real job" if I couldn't make sense of what I was doing.
I cried in a parking lot and then received an email from a stranger about how I saved her life... and I knew I had to FIND a way to make this work (make money online and sharing a message)

Q: What's the biggest obstacle you had to overcome to get to where you are today?
A: Getting in my own fucking way, getting distracted by others' success... having fear, doubt, inconsistency due to distractions
I I'm honestly probably just coming out of the hardest thing (and I can share.... maybe.. bring it up and I'll go into the details)
I've learned more in the past 7 months than the last 7 years.... just going to say that

Q: Introvert or extrovert?:
A: Introvert! Surprisingly.

Q: Favorite dessert?:
A: Uhm.... yes?

Q: If you could give 1 piece of advice to yourself 5 years ago, what would it be?:
A: TRUST. TRUST. TRUST. Don't question everything... it always ALWAYS works out and it doesn't have to make sense right now. Also... stop procrastinating. ha!
